Gym Closure

To my valued community, staff, customers, friends, and family:

McCracken’s Gymnastics facilities—both Pool and Gym—suffered a devastating flood on 7-17-2025. The damage has made it impossible to continue with business operations as we know it in a timely manner. After much reflection, and having been reminded by Mother Nature that we are not always in control, I have made the decision to retire from the day-to-day operations of owning a business in today’s world, effective August 1, 2025.

The truth is, I’m tired. The fact is, none of us will ever get any younger. I am at peace with knowing I gave it everything I had for 48 years. Now it is time for me to pause, to reflect, to reminisce, and begin a new chapter in my life. It is also a time of new beginnings—time for me to pass the baton to a new generation who is ready to grow, rise, lead, and also dream big.

I don’t know what the future holds for a business of 48 years. I only know the ripples created over time are out there. As of today, I am keeping my many options open. There’s a legacy here already in motion. If it keeps moving, I assure you, it will be carried out by those who believe in what McCracken’s Gymnastics and Swim School has always stood for.

Now, after having said the hard part, please allow me to put this chapter of my life to rest by thanking all who were pivotal in the shaping of a legacy and the lives it has touched.

To Olathe and surrounding communities:

For over 50 years, Olathe has been my steady foundation, my extended family, and my greatest blessing. What started once as simple connections grew into the place where I built a life, raised a family, and followed my dreams.

Together, we—the community—built a space where children could grow, thrive, explore their strengths, learn discipline, build confidence, trust others, and feel safe and supported. And it was cultivated by all who have entered and were involved.

Thank you all for your contributions and talents, both big and small.

I am forever grateful,
Linda McCracken
Owner and Founder, EST. 1977

To my staff—both present and past:

You are and have always been the soul of the gym, and I am endlessly grateful for your dedication, especially in the hardest of times. We have always been “better together.”

Hugs and cookies,
Linda

To the parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents—both present and past—who entrusted me with your children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren:

For nearly five decades, these facilities have been more than a business to me—it has been a shared second home for many of you too. I have watched three generations of children and athletes blossom here. I will take each of their stories and cherished memories with me—always.

Thank you for always showing up and filling my life with purpose and meaning.

Your support has meant everything to me,
Linda McCracken

To my students—past, present, and forever:

Where do I begin? You fill our world with energy, laughter, and joy.

To some of you I have been a coach. Others have called me teacher or Ms. Linda. Still others—even though we are not family by blood—call me Grandma Linda. In more recent years, I would often sit back and just smile, quietly realizing: young people have always been where it’s at for me. I am honored to call you all my friend.

May the beat go on, and may you all keep dancing to it always.

Your forever friend,
Linda McCracken

To my close friends and immediate family:

Letting go isn’t easy, but your encouragement, words of wisdom, and logic have helped me find courage and peace in letting go.

Thank you for loving me, supporting me, and being there during life’s transitions. We are blessed for having had many family and social gatherings here. They will be etched in my heart forever.

I love you all,
Linda

To my children — Scott, Heather, Amber, Bobbi — and my eight granddaughters:

Mother Nature teaches us there is purpose in every season—Father Time teaches us to accept that nothing lasts forever. I know that time has asked us to move on before any of us felt ready. I see more clearly now how deeply this touches you. You grew up in this gym and learned how to swim here.

You gave it life. You made it more than I ever could on my own. Thank you for always standing beside me, for carrying the heavy weight when I was too weak, and loving me through every change. I will forever be proud—not just of what was created here, but of who YOU have become because of it.

Love and hugs,
Mom

To all:

This was not the goodbye I envisioned, but it was a goodbye written with love, respect, and a grateful heart. I wish you all success, joy, and strength as you continue on your own journeys without me.

Let me leave you with this one thought:
“Do not wish for an easy life… wish to be strong.” – Unknown

You are all a part of my village.

Please keep in touch,
Linda McCracken
